Google to announce AI enhancements for corporate Gmail customers for $30 a month – WSJ

Google, which is part of Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL), is now entering the field of selling AI technology. They’re doing this to compete in the profitable market for cloud software.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud, will introduce a range of improvements targeted at business users of Gmail. He’ll announce these enhancements during Tuesday’s annual cloud conference in San Francisco.

Customers can access these AI-powered tools for a monthly fee of $30, which facilitates drafting emails and summarizing lengthy documents stored in the cloud. This way, Google matches the price Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) will charge for a competing offering in its flagship 365 suite.

This move will further escalate the rivalry with Microsoft, the second largest cloud provider, and OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, which Microsoft has heavily invested in.

Moreover, Google intends to use the conference as a platform to showcase practical uses of its AI technology in real-world scenarios.
