Tesla recalls 3,470 Model Y EVs

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said over the weekend that Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), a manufacturer of electric vehicles, has recalled 3,470 Model Y vehicles in the United States that were produced between 2022 and 2023.

According to the NHTSA investigation, bolts in the second-row seats may be loose. According to the report, Model Y vehicles’ second-row seat back frames are subject to recall because the bolts holding the frames might not be securely tightened. According to the NHTSA, this could decrease the performance of the seat belt system and raise the risk of injury in an accident.

Tesla claims it discovered the flaw in December and started doing risk analyses the following year.

Owners of the recalled vehicle can take their Model Y to a Tesla service center, which will inspect and tighten the bolts for free.

The 2022-2023 Model Y has now been recalled twice in less than a month. 2020–2023 Tesla Model Y models were among the 362,758 vehicles that were subject to a recall in February because they may be “unsafe around intersections” if they have the complete self-driving beta software. The company stated that it would provide a free over-the-air software update, so the recall would call for an upgrade.

Shares of TSLA are up 0.47% in premarket trading on Monday.
